Catey Pre-School

CATEY stands for Cockfield & Thorpe Morieux Early Years. We have continued to use this name to remember the strong links we have with Thorpe Morieux, in honour of all the hard work they put in with us to fund raise for our building and also for the fund raising we still do together. We have the use of the school playground and field for outdoor activities which include ride on toys, bikes, ball games and other physical activities. In bad weather, we are able to use the school hall for PE etc.

At pre-school, children from the age of 2 years are given the opportunity to learn, explore and discover skills through play in a safe and secure environment before they join school. In our friendly atmosphere, the children learn to communicate, co-operate, share and enjoy the company of other children and adults.

The curriculum for the foundation stage should underpin all future learning by supporting, fostering, promoting all aspects of childrens development concentrating on:

  • Personal, social and emotional wellbeing Positive attitudes and dispositions
  • Social skills
  • Attention skills and persistence
  • Language and communication
  • Reading and writing
  • Mathematics
  • Knowledge and understanding of the world
  • Physical development
  • Creative development

The pre-school is fully equipped with materials and learning resources to stimulate and build their confidence and manipulative skills.
